Functionality of the Cattle Stunning Box
The objective of the Cattle Stunning Box is the first piece of equipment on the beef line, and its production capacity determines the performance of the line, which is why it is one of the most important machines in slaughtering beef.
The Box must facilitate the immobilization operation of the animal, so that the operator can carry out the knockout comfortably and in accordance with the standard. The immobilization operation is complex, since the lines have to work with animals of very different characteristics, sizes, weights and morphologies. Therefore, the box must facilitate the operation as much as possible, so that the operation is carried out and the animal leaves the box quickly.
At Mecanova we design our drawers in such a way that they facilitate access thanks to a pneumatic sectional entrance door. We have side push doors on the hindquarters, to encourage the animal to be placed in the front, where a sectional door with head trapping facilitates the task of stunning by the operator without risk, since the head remains completely immobile.
Our boxes are designed so that the ground where the animals step is made of concrete, which ensures that the animal does not become stressed. The design of this floor makes it easy for the animal, once stunned, to quickly exit the box thanks to a sectional side exit door.
